Seasonal gas price surge. It happens every year: Summer always has gas prices going up, b/c of harvest and people with kids travelling around the country for vacations. Summer wholesale gas prices are ≈1.5× of winter gas prices.

No shortages though. The prices will do down in a couple of months, like they always do.

In my region there is a shortage of gas.Local minister of energy explains that fuel consumption increased by 30% due to hot summer (more tourists driving in from northern areas, more local people drive to clean seaside beaches in the south of region etc) and suppliers failed to provide necessary volumes. The number of russian refineries that caught fire this August is quite remarkable.  FIRMS satellite images confirm many tanks and some fraction columns have been destroyed.  And most recently, a pipeline to Moscow.  Say 10% of supply generally is interrupted.   Russia relies at least partially on foreign parts for their gas columns and piping so repairs take time.   10% of supply going offline won't cause a general crisis, though it would cause severe inconvenience to those near to the affected distribution points.  Of course Ukraine hits the military supply lines the hardest.

I remember 2022, when we in Ukraine had an even deeper fuel crisis after our fuel plants were bombed. One of the sharpest memories is a long, long line for a gas station stretching for several blocks, with a young lady in a white Tesla in the middle of it.

She was smiling cheerfully, realizing how ridiculous an EV looked in such a line.

First of all, I'm impressed by the journalists pronunciation of the regions such as Novokuibyshevsk. 

Second, I'm wondering;  
If they are in need of fuel to run their war against Ukraine, would it have Russia on their knees sooner or later if other nations hadn't stopped buying their oil?   
If they cut the supply line, Russia might have had to downscale their oil production, but if they didn't, wouldn't they have more supply in stock to drive their war machine?  
  
TLDR; If Europe sucked Russia dry from oil, would they have to end their war by now?
